About Us

Meet Dr. Stephen H. Simon

Dr. Stephen Simon received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Boise State University in 2001. He began his professional education at Case Western University School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2006. After completing his degree, Dr. Simon gained valuable experience as a general dentist serving at Fort Hood, Texas, for four years in the United States Army. After serving honorably as a dental officer in the military, including a tour in Iraq, he completed a residency in endodontics at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas, in 2012. As a resident he presented table clinics at the American Association of Endodontist conventions and published research in the Journal of Endodontics, which studied injection pain and onset of local anesthetics. Since then he has practiced endodontics in group practices in the northwest and Texas.

Stephen was raised in Eastern Idaho. He is a bit of a mountain man and has an adventurous spirit. He grew up participating in many outdoor sports and loves to snow ski. As a young man before entering the halls of higher learning he served a two year mission for his church in Bentonville, Arkansas. Stephen, is a loving husband and lucky father to four beautiful girls. He enjoys spending time with his wife and children.

Dr. Simon is excited to provide compassionate care and further develop relationships with patients and colleagues in the Austin area.

 

 

Meet Dr. Julius W. Eickenhorst

Dr. Julius Eickenhorst is a native Texan, born and raised in Port Arthur, Texas. He completed pre-dental training at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated from the University of Tennessee College Of Dentistry in Memphis, Tennessee. After three years of service in the U.S. Navy as a dentist during the Vietnam War, Dr. Eickenhorst practiced general dentistry for four years in Austin, Texas. He had for a long time a special interest in endodontics. In pursuit of this interest he applied and was accepted to the endodontic residency at the University of Texas Dental School at Houston. Upon completion of the endodontic program and receiving his masters degree, Dr. Eickenhorst was on the faculty of the University of Texas Dental School at Houston for one year. He then moved to Austin, Texas, and started his private practice of endodontics and has been in endodontic practice for over thirty years.

Dr. Eickenhorst is a member of the Capital Area Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association, The American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontics and the Southwest Society of Endodontics. He and his wife Susan have three grown children: Travis, who works for a private equity, commercial real estate company, Dan, who is a radiology resident, and Elizabeth, who works in the fashion industry in New York City. Dr. Eickenhorst enjoys hunting, fishing, attending University of Texas athletic events, and reading books on various aspects of history.

Meet Dr. William H. Heggen

Dr. Heggen was born and raised in Lincoln, NE. He attended the University of Nebraska Dental College. After earning his DDS, Dr. Heggen was selected to do a rotating dental internship at Wright Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center where he received training in all the specialties of dental surgery. He then decided to specialize in Endodontics.

Dr. Heggen received his certification in Endodontics and his MS degree at Ohio State University. For his master’s thesis he focused on root resorbtion caused by trauma. Dr. Heggen has over 30 years of experience and training in all aspects of Endodontics.

Dr. Heggen is a member of Capital Area Dental Society, American Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, Texas Dental Association, Southwest Society of Endodontists and The Southern Endodontic Study Group. He began his practices in Austin and Temple in 1980. He and his wife raised two children in Austin. One is a general dentist and one teaches art and works with special needs students in AISD.

You can find him on most any golf course or tennis court on weekends. He enjoys working out, snow skiing and hiking in Colorado. Folk music and art also are high on the list of things he appreciates in his down time.
